No, dermal filler is not the same as Botox. While both are injectable, minimally invasive cosmetic treatments, they work differently; Botox “freezes” muscles to smooth wrinkles caused by expressions, while dermal fillers fill in areas that have lost volume.

Dermal filler is a minimally invasive injection that provides fullness and volume to the face and lips.

All available options are known to help in the treatment of wrinkles. Each is a type of botulinum that is injected under the skin to still a group of targeted muscles. Botox or any similar procedure is considered noninvasive, relaxing the muscles under the skin so the area will smooth out. These injections can also be effective in deep wrinkle prevention.
